What to Wear

Please wear or bring comfortable, loose clothing for your appointment - something that allows you to move.

Example: athletic shorts or yoga pants.

As a courtesy, please do not wear strong fragrances, perfumes or colognes. Many  people are sensitive to chemicals and strong smells.

What to expect
during treatment

New patient exam, including treatment, is 45 minutes. Follow-up treatments are 10-15 minutes.
Treatments can feel uncomfortable during the movement phases as the scar tissue or adhesions are broken up. This discomfort is temporary, and subsides often immediately after treatment. It’s common to feel a duplication of your pain symptoms—that means the problem has been identified! Patients most often refer to the discomfort during treatment as a “good hurt.”

What to expect
after the initial treatment

After your initial treatment,
  • You may be sore.
  • Bruising is normal.
  • Feeling like a "post-workout" sensation.
The body is being moved, and scar tissue is being broken up which can lead to the soreness 1-2 days after treatment.

How long
before I feel better?

Different bodies heal at different rates.
If two people were to cut themselves at the same time, they would not heal at the exact same rate.

The same applies with Chiropractic and Active Release.
A general rule of thumb is that within 3-6 sessions, you should notice a form of improvement. Some people respond faster (more acute) and some respond slower (more chronic). Your practitioner will discuss the right number of visits for you personally during your first visit.

To speed the rate of healing, it is imperative that you stick with your treatment schedule.

Why is maintenance care important?

Maintenance care involves having your spine and muscles checked every 2-4 weeks. Only 10% of pain is perceived by the brain – that means that we don’t even realize when we are in pain!
Life is a sport and everyday occurrences can lead to scar tissue build up. Having your musculoskeletal system checked regularly helps maintain optimal health and activity levels.

Cancellation policy

Please let us know if you will be unable to keep your appointment. We will then be able to accommodate others and reschedule your appointment. We ask for 24 hours notice, or you will be charged for the session.  Exceptions may be made in the event of true emergencies, at the discretion of the practitioner.
Leave a message on our answering machine at any time of the day or night.

Appointment Reminders

It is the responsibility of the patient to remember their appointment date and time. Our computer generated text and e-mail reminders are only a courtesy. Do not reply. Please call us at 941-379-9500 if you need to change your appointment.

Punctuality

We appreciate that you arrive early to sign in for your appointments.  A certain amount of time is allotted for each patient visit.  If you are late, your remaining time may not be sufficient for your full treatment.
Late arrivals will be rescheduled and may be charged for a missed appointment.
Please allow extra drive time to get through the inevitable traffic due to congestion, schools zones, and weather.
